Commonly Asked Questions: |
| |
How does laser hair removal work?
The laser is pulsed (turned on) for a millisecond, emitting a beam
of light onto the skin. The light energy passes harmlessly through
the skin but is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and shaft.
The follicles absorb this laser energy, which disables and impairs
the hairs’ ability to grow. A patented cooling
hand piece protects the outer layer of skin, allowing areas to be
treated as painlessly as possible.
Does the treatment hurt?
Most clients describe the procedure as a little uncomfortable, similar
to having a rubber band snapped on the skin.
How many treatments does it take?
The laser works by disabling hair in the active growth stage (anagen)
at the time of the treatment. Because not all hairs are in this stage
during the treatment, additional treatments will be necessary to disable
almost all the hair follicles in the desired area. Treatments are usually
given at intervals of 4-6 weeks or where new hair growth is noticed.
Our nurses and physicians can discuss your goals to develop a program based on your
specific circumstances.
What can I expect from a treatment?
Following treatment the areas become pink or red, which usually subsides
within a day or so. You should avoid tanning and should use a sunscreen
both and before after treatment. Around 3-10 days after treatment, hairs will begin
to surface. Many of these hairs were treated and are falling out.
It is not new growth. The hair follicles need to purge the hairs that
remain under the skin. Contact Be Medical Spa to discuss your options
